The system is broken - and we can fix it...

The city of Wilmington is in the process of becoming a truly awesome city - a place where entrepreneurs, artists, educators, and businesses create incredible things.

Since October of 2011, the citizens, business community, arts community, Wilmington City Officials, and others have been engaged in improving the parking and parking enforcement issues in the city of Wilmington.

Huge progress has been made and the direction we are going as a community is extremely positive!

This blog chronicles the efforts of all who helped make this happen...

When a City Councilman can't get the system to work...

Something interesting from the print edition of the News Journal's Dialoge Delaware (can't find this online) - Sunday, January 8, 2012 - page B6 here's some excerpts:

Kelley tells tales of parking tickets
"I have a few good stories to tell you regarding my parking appeals," said City Councilman Kevin F. Kelley Sr. "I lost all of my appeals."
....
Kelley goes on to tell about the time he was cited for parking on the sidewalk in front of his house where only two tires were on the curb. There was also the time his son was cited for being parked next to a fire hydrant even though it was several feet away from the vehicle, he said.
"All of these were appealed and denied," he said. "When people call me about tickets, I advise them to pay it because they are not going to win the appeal."

I think we need to change that.
